Who says that hard work and commitment doesn’t pay off?  Not Evan Rasmussen, Libertyville FC 1974, born in 2001, a current staple in the middle of the attack of the FC74 U18 team.

Evan start playing in the GLSA Travel program when he was 9 yrs old in fourth grade and what a great story he has. He missed tryouts and still decide to contact the club and tried to join the program. He was placed on Black team and after just two weeks, the coaches recognized his talent he was moved up to Orange team.

From there, he just kept working and building his talent and developing to amazing athlete and player. He was on the FC 1974 team that won the US Club National Championship Cup at age 13, at age 15, his FC 1974 team won the Illinois State Cup and also a State Runner -Up for Libertyville High School in 2017.

None of this came unrecognized and unnoticed from college coaches. In his Junior year, he was offered scholarship and opportunity to play at the University of Michigan, which he gladly accepted. This made his parents very proud as they are big fans of Michigan.

Further recognition has now come from Generation Adidas as he was nominated for and chosen by Generation Adidas to travel to and spend a week at Real Madrid this summer. He will represent the Libertyville FC 1974 as the first player to travel overseas to attend an elite level European Camp.

“I am so proud of his accomplishments; he deserves all of this. He always gives 100 percent at every practice and game. And that is why he has developed to amazing soccer player. Wish him all the best” said his coach Srgjan Smileski.

This is great day for our club and Libertyville community since we will have one of our local players represent us in Spain at the facility of this year Champions League winner, Real Madrid. The club is very proud of the player and person Evan is growing into. We wish him all the best and safe trip.
